I love asparagus, and ever since we bought our home, I’ve been dreaming of growing asparagus. Not only are asparagus spears a delicious spring treat, but the delicate ferny leaves are also a fabulous backdrop in a perennial bed.
Unfortunately, all the publications I’ve read recommend setting out plants in spring and using dormant crowns in the fall. So, I assume that plopping asparagus plants in the soil this time of year has certain amount of risk associated with it.
But hey, the whole idea behind this website is to challenge assumptions. I will let you know if I have any asparagus growing next spring.
